File Information

Menu Command: File | Information

Use the File Information window to store information within the audio file, including the title, artist, description, and copyright notice. Note that information is saved only in some file formats, such as .wav, .wma, .aiff, .xac, .ogg, and ID3v2 .mp3 files.

Information may be discarded for other file types. Any additional information or metadata not shown in this window is not preserved by GoldWave.

Use the Copy and Paste buttons to copy information from one file and paste it into another. Use the Clear All button to erase all text and the artwork.

Do not replace artwork with high resolution photos from a camera! Such photos can easily exceed 3MB in size, which is excessive and completely unnecessary for artwork. Use image editing software (Windows Paint) to reduce the size and resolution of the photo. The artwork must be cropped square. A resolution of 300 by 300 pixels is recommended. The file size should be under 200KB when possible.

See the for more information about the supported file types, international languages, and how the Track number can be set to ## to generate track numbers automatically.
