Menu Command: Tool | Control
The Control window provides easy access to audio devices. Before playing or recording a sound, you should use the (Properties) button to make sure that the correct playback and recording devices have been selected. Many device related features can be configured through the Control Properties window. To save screen space or enlarge the visuals, you can resize the Control window. Use the Window Menu Commands to change the layout and position of the Control window.
Right-clicking some of the controls (buttons, faders, and visuals) displays a context menu for settings.
Playback Controls
There are three playback buttons that can be configured to play different regions of the sound. Initially the buttons are




The (Rewind) and
(Fast Forward) buttons move quickly through the file. The default speed for these buttons can be configured in the Control Properties window. When one of these buttons is used to start playback, the region played is determined by the Play 3 setting.

Note these controls affect only the playback device. To change the volume, balance (pan), or speed within a file itself, use the corresponding command in the Effect menu. To change recording volumes, see Recording or use the Windows Volume Control accessory to change the device volume levels. Details are also given on the GoldWave website.
